With the growing popularity of nitriding, AMM invested in an environmentally friendly nontoxic process in late 2017. Offering nitriding in-house allows the company to ensure the quality of nitriding while also lowering the cost of manufacturing. Nitriding provides resistance to distortion and wear of the part as time passes and increases higher surface, face, and core hardness.
Ion Plasma nitriding is a thermochemical treatment, which is carried out by glowing discharge, exited in a gas mixture of nitrogen and hydrogen. Nitrogen Ions, accelerated by an electric field, bombard parts, heat them, and create conditions for the diffusion of the surface layer.
Ion Plasma nitriding is a process that produces excellent wear-resistant products, improves working conditions, improves surface hardness, and, ultimately, cuts down production costs. This technology allows for an excellent surface finish and reduces the risk of product distortion without changing the part dimensionally.
